HUMANITE in Syria
In Syria, a decade of civil war has pushed 90% of the population into poverty, with ongoing protests and violence reminiscent of the conflict's onset in 2011. The crisis has continued for over a decade due to complex domestic and international factors, including a proxy war involving regional and global powers supporting opposing factions. Syrians inside and outside the country face unemployment, poverty, and daily struggles for survival, with limited access to essentials and health care. The 2023 earthquake across Turkey and northern Syria has compounded the crisis, leaving the region with even greater challenges.
With food and fuel prices skyrocketing and the Syrian pound losing 80% of its value, millions of Syrians urgently need our help.
Your support has propelled our team’s work in Syria, led by staff and partners, since 2016, providing essentials like food, shelter, and medical care. Today, your donations continue to help Syrians rebuild their lives, supporting job creation, emergency food, and shelter for the displaced as we work together to avoid a return to full-scale civil war.
